Signal Curators

The SIGNAL Curators are a group of 16 to 25 year olds who love art. They meet monthly to hear from artists, curators and other creative professionals. They plan exhibitions, workshops, publications, and other projects. They also contribute their ideas to the SIGNAL program.

Active since 2014, past projects have included youth-led tours of the National Gallery of Victoria, a mini art fair at MPavilon, and group exhibitions at City Library, Fort Delta, and the Dirty Dozen in Campbell Arcade.

While the SIGNAL building has been closed to help reduced the spread of COVID-19, the SIGNAL Curators have been meeting online, continuing to collaborate on art in iso. Check out their first Quarantine Diary on IGTV and download QuaranZine Volume 1.

They also worked with Mohamed Chamas to translate their group exhibition Hopeful/Hopeless for digital presentation. Explore the online gallery (best viewed on desktop).

We are always open to new members and would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. Please email us at signal@melbourne.vic.gov.au if you’d like to join and we’ll get in touch.
